Benefits of Motivated Employees
“An employee’s motivation is a direct result of the sum of interactions with his or her manager.”
– Bob Nelson
Motivation is the set of states of the individual’s needs that require to be satisfied and therefore pushes, incites and causes the individual to perform a series of actions in order to satisfy them. At one time, employees were considered just another input into the production of goods and services. Achim, I.M., Dragolea, L. and Balan, G., (2013).
Motivated
employees can lead to increased productivity and allow an organization to
achieve higher levels of output. Imagine having an employee who is not
motivated at work. They will probably use the time at their desk surfing
the internet for personal pleasure or even looking for another job. This is a
waste of your time and resources.
Benefits of Motivated Employees
Even the most highly
motivated employees will have down days, and filling out the expense or budget
reports doesn’t usually give a lot of job satisfaction even though it’s a
necessary task O’Donnell, K (2021) . Employee motivation is highly
important for every organization due to the benefits that it brings to the
organization.
Here are the some
important benefits of motivation in the workplace:
- Increased employee commitment
When employees are
motivated to work, they will generally put their best effort in the tasks that
are assigned to them.
- Improved employee satisfaction
Employee satisfaction
is important for every company because this can lead towards a positive growth
for the company. Higher job satisfaction would also mean a lower attrition rate
in an organization. Getting a handsome salary is one thing but today’s
employees look for satisfaction in their careers. O’Donnell, K (2021)
- Ongoing employee development
Motivation can
facilitate a worker reaching his/her personal goals, and can facilitate the
self-development of an individual. Once that worker meets some initial goals,
they realize the clear link between effort and results, which will further
motivate them to continue at a high level.
- Improved employee efficiency
An employee’s
efficiency level is not only based on their abilities or qualifications. For
the company to get the very best results, an employee needs to have a good
balance between the ability to perform the task given and willingness to want
to perform the task. Employees who get more done in less time are very
valuable. They can accomplish a lot in the same amount of time compared to
other employees. And if their work is very high-quality, you can see big
productivity gains with a motivated team of employees. O’Donnell, K (2021)
- Self-discipline
Motivation promotes
self-discipline among employees. Self-discipline helps employees accomplish
much more than the discipline imposed by their seniors. Motivated employee
disciplines themself and believes that it is necessary for their interests. O’Donnell,
K (2021).
Employee motivation is a critical aspect at
the workplace which leads to the performance of the department and even the organization.
Motivating your employees needs to be a regular routine. Heryati R (2022).

Good article Nadeeshani. Furthermore, motivation is accomplished by developing some effort – an activity which is expected to lead to a goal representing the satisfaction of individual needs of the person. Well-motivated people are those who have clearly defined goals, which effectively operate and have developed a sense of duty, because they are aware that their efforts lead to satisfaction not only their own needs but those of the company as well (Armstrong, 2009).
